Vijayawada: BJP President Rajnath Singh today lambasted the UPA government over the Indo-US nuclear deal and the Ramsetu issue. Noting that the deal should not cap India's right to nuclear test, he said such a provision would be dangerous for the country.
Addressing a public meeting here after attending farmers rallies in West Godavari district, Singh said BJP never wanted Indian foreign policy to be at the mercy of the US.
"During Vajpayee s rule, scientists were given go ahead to conduct the nuclear tests, but it was unfortunate that the P V Narasimha Rao government called off the plan to undertake test under American pressure."
Referring to Ramsetu, Singh said as long as BJP was there the mythical bridge would not be allowed to be razed.
"It was really unfortunate that the UPA government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court denying the very existence of Lord Ram," the BJP chief said.
Singh said Mahatma Gandhi, who was closely associated with the Congress, wanted that Ram Raj should be established in the country for the welfare of the people. "Even when he was dying, he had Lord Ram's name on his lips." He said repeal of the anti-terror act, POTA by the Manmohan Singh government was encouraging terrorists.
Singh said it was only BJP which could match Congress in its statue and reach.
When BJP was in power, prices of essential commodities were under control, while the common man is suffering under the present government, he said.
