India begins negotiations with IAEA
Wednesday, November 21, 2007 13:58 [IST]

Vienna: India today began negotiating the country-specific safeguards agreement with the global atomic watchdog here to operationalise the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

A team of officials led by Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar, which arrived here this morning, is holding talks with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohammed ElBaradei and other top officials on the safeguards pact.

"All aspects of the safeguards related to India will figure in the day-long discussions with the IAEA officials," Kakodkar said before heading for the meeting.
