'India's growing eco power good for world'
Wednesday, November 21, 2007 17:31 [IST]

Washington: Describing the increasing military cooperation between New Delhi and Washington as "a good thing", a top US military official has said India's growing economic power is good for the global community.

"... I think there's a very positive and growing relationship between the two countries. And I think that's a very good thing," Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs Admiral Mike Mullen said at the Washington Foreign Press Centre.

"India is providing not just for its own people a growing economic engine which, again, I think is good not just locally, but also globally," he said. And I think that's positive. So I m actually very positive about the continuing and emerging relationship between the United States and India, he added.

The Pentagon official noted that recent years have witnessed an increase in military-to-military contacts between US and India.
