New Delhi: The Congress today steered clear of the issue of granting citizenship to controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, whose works have come under attack from a section of the Muslim community.
"This is a decision that the Home Ministry has to take. The question of giving visa to any person who is not Indian is a decision taken at the national level by the Home Ministry," AICC spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told reporters.
She was asked to comment on the BJP's demand that Nasreen should be granted citizenship of India as has been desired by the writer.
