Uma to clear stand on rejoining BJP on Sunday
Thursday, November 22, 2007 04:37 [IST]

Bhopal: Bharatiya Janshakti leader Uma Bharti tonight termed as "completely unexpected" the goings-on to rope her back into the BJP and said she will clear her stand on the matter this Sunday.

Skirting a categorical reply on the issue, she said "Rajnath Singh has honoured me by making a statement. The developments are completely unexpected. I will require some time to think over it and make my stand clear only on November 25".

Tanjavur spiritual guru Swami Vishvesha Tirtha earlier in the day appealed to her and the BJP to reunite in order to prevent a split of Hindu votes in the coming Gujarat elections but the BJP chief said only the party forum can decide on whether to take back a former rebel.

Asked if she was completely ruled out her return to her parent party, Bharti told reporters after alighting from a train at the railway station here: "The matter is very complicated and sensitive and it s not so easy to comment on it".

The BJS president said she was informed over the phone about the wishes of her guru Vishwesha Tirtha for a possible reconciliation between her and the BJP while she was on the train. "I will have to think of a a way to respect his wishes. I will also have to discuss it with my party colleagues," she said.

Bharti will take part in a BJS rally against Reliance Fresh fruit and vegetable outlets tomorrow before leaving for Narsinghpur and return to this city on Sunday.
