Nandigram incident shameful: Congress
Thursday, November 22, 2007 08:19 [IST]

Jabalpur (MP): The Congress has described the Nandigram incident as "shameful" and held the West Bengal government "entirely responsible for the situation".

"The West Bengal government is entirely responsible for the situation in Nandigram. It is the state government's duty to protect rights of its residents," Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

"It has failed to protect people's rights. It is shameful", he said. Singhvi, an advocate, was here to appear in a case before the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
