Will Uma join the BJP?
Thursday, November 22, 2007 08:46 [IST]

uma_bhartiBhopal: Everybody is now waiting to hear Uma Bharti's decision on joining the BJP. Whether it could boost the morale of the party for coming Gujarat elections is another issue, but it would certainly add something to it.

One time fire brand BJP leader, Uma Bharti, is expected to announce her decision on November 25 on this issue. Commenting on this issue, the leader termed it completely unexpected and said that Rajnath Singh has honoured her by making a statement.

Tanjavur spiritual guru Swami Vishvesha Tirtha earlier yesterday appealed to her and the BJP to reunite in order to prevent a split of Hindu votes in the coming Gujarat elections but the BJP chief said only the party forum can decide on whether to take back a former rebel.

Asked if she was completely ruled out her return to her parent party, Bharti told reporters after alighting from a train at the railway station here, "The matter is very complicated and sensitive and it s not so easy to comment on it".

The BJS president said she was informed over the phone about the wishes of her guru Vishwesha Tirtha for a possible reconciliation between her and the BJP while she was on the train.

"I will have to think of a a way to respect his wishes. I will also have to discuss it with my party colleagues," she said. Bharti will take part in a BJS rally against Reliance Fresh fruit and vegetable outlets today before leaving for Narsinghpur and return to this city on Sunday.
