Sentencing in Uphaar case on Friday

New Delhi: Delhi court has decided to pronounce quantum of sentence against 12 convicts, including theatre owners Sushil and Gopal Ansal, in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy case at 3 pm tomorrow.

Earlier, yesterday the announcement was deferred due to continuation of arguments on this issue.

The Patiala House Court had found all the 12 accused guilty in the case, which claimed 59 lives in 1997.

The theatre owners Sushil and Gopal Ansal had decided to approach the higher court to appeal against the verdict.

The chargesheet was filed in this case by CBI on November 15, 1997. Earlier, the verdict was adjourned till October 22.

Originally, the CBI had chargesheeted around 16 people and examined about 115 witnesses in this case.
