Kolkata: Ninety four-year-old CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu has cracked a rib after falling down at his residence.
"This was detected in an X-ray on Basu today," his personal assistant Joykrishna Ghosh said.
Ghosh said Basu, who slipped and fell in the bathroom yesterday at his Salt lake residence, Indira Bhavan here, has been advised complete rest for two to three weeks by doctors.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee said "Basu is alright now."
