17 militants surrender to army in Assam

Tinsukia: Seventeen militants, including 15 ULFA cadres, today surrendered to the Army in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district, police said.

Fifteen ULFA cadres including three women and one each from the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) and Dima Haola Daoga (DHD) surrendered before Brigadier Binoy Punen of the Army's 18 mountain division at the Laipuli army camp, they said.

They deposited three IEDs, four grenades, 10 electric detonators, 339 rounds of ammunition of AK-47 and 108 rounds of ammunition of nine mm pistol. Senior police officials of the district were also present.
