Taslima taken to Rajasthan from WB
Thursday, November 22, 2007 20:15 [IST]

taslima_01Jaipur: Controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen was today brought to Rajasthan from West Bengal, a day after outbreak of large-scale violence in central Kolkata during a shutdown called by a Muslim outfit over Nandigram situation and for cancelling her visa.

Official sources said the writer reached here this afternoon and was discreetly taken to a safe place. West Bengal police had suggested to Nasreen yesterday that she could be moved out to Rajasthan. Yesterday's shutdown was also called to protest against the Nandigram violence. The visa of the Bangladeshi writer has been extended by the Government till February 17 next.
