NEPA Bill introduced

New Delhi: A bill seeking to empower the government to carry out disinvestment in the NEPA Limited and enable its revival through a joint venture was introduced in the Lok Sabha today.

Introducing the NEPA Limited (Disinvestment of Ownership) Bill, 2007, Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Sontosh Mohan Dev said it was imperative to change the public character of the NEPA Limited to empower itself to carry out disinvestment of the company.

NEPA Limited became a sick company and was under the consideration of the BIFR since May 1998. The company was originally called The National Newsprint and Paper Mills Limited.
