Chennai: It was goosebumps for the 400-odd students of a private school at New Washermanpet here, after they complained of "mysterious attacks" and bloodstains on the back of the uniform, which parents suspected was the handiwork of ghosts .
Parents of the students of a girls school here today gathered outside the school and gheraoed the school authorities insisting that a puja be performed there as they found bloodstains on the uniforms of their children. After this, the school authorities closed the school for the day.
A few of the parents also complained that some invisible thing had been touching their children in class and that the girls were unable to sleep at night as they felt frightened.
The incidents reportedly happened in a tenth Standard class and also the school laboratory.
When the students complained to their class teacher, she dismissed such claims. However, the students then complained to the Principal who immediately called a Pastor and conducted special prayers to drive away the ghost . However, the ghost reportedly refused to leave.
At the same time, some suggested pooja which was objected to by others, N Kamini, Deputy Commissioner of Police said.
The parents of the students gathered outside the school creating tension and police had to intervene and pacify them.
Police officials, who visited the spot, said they did not receive any particular complaint with regard to the incident. "When I personally inquired some of the parents and teachers who were there, they said the principal had conducted a special prayer inside the campus," Kamini said.
