CBI team reaches Nandigram to continue probe
Thursday, November 29, 2007 00:06 [IST]

Nandigram: A 10-member CBI team, including a DIG, reached here today to continue its investigations into the March 14 police firing which left 14 dead, as ordered by the Calcutta High Court. The team which included DIG Alok Ranjan and two special superintendents R R Sahay and S Pandiya, held a meeting with CRPF deployed here and went around some areas, CBI sources said.

The agency has re-registered two cases in the police firing at Adhikaripara and Gokulnagar here on March 14 and another on the arrest of 10 CPI-M supporters from the Janani brick klin on March 17.

The Calcutta High Court in its November 16 ruling had directed the CBI to continue investigation into the police firing and submit a report within a month. Meanwhile, CRPF DIG Alok Raj said that any complaint against the central forces had to be supported by substantial proof and evidence .
