Chennai: A lady teacher of a private school near here has been arrested on charges of beating up a student, police said today.
Arafat, a class VIII student of the school at Kothavalchavadi, was injured when his teacher Selvasankari allegedly hit him with a ruler after he refused to do class work and insisted on having his lunch on Tuesday, the police said.
The boy suffered an injury on his forehead, they said.
The arrest was made yesterday based on a complaint by the student's father, the police said, adding the teacher was let off on bail later in the day.
