Players to be made DSP, SI directly in Haryana

Chandigarh: The Haryana Cabinet today amended the Haryana Police Service Rules, 2002 and Punjab Police Rules, 1934 for making direct recruitment of outstanding sportspersons in the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police and Sub Inspectors of Police respectively.

According to the amendment, 30 per cent quota for directly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police, three per cent would be filled up from the outstanding sportspersons of Haryana state who win Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals in Olympic Games or those sportspersons who bring extraordinary laurel to the country and the state.

The government would give suitable relaxation upto three years in maximum age after recording reasons in writing, the decision taken at a meeting of state Cabinet here today said. The Cabinet also amended the Punjab Police Rules, 1934 relating to recruitment of Sub Inspectors of Police. As many as 47 per cent of posts of Sub Inspectors shall be filled up by direct recruitment.
