Vadodara: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today denied reports of BJS chief Uma Bharti planning to rejoin the saffron party.
"There is no proposal from Bhartiya Janshakti Party (BJS) chief Uma Bharti to rejoin the BJP," she said while claiming that BJS candidates are no contest to their BJP counterparts in the Gujarat assembly elections due later this month. "BJS candidates have failed to win a seat in the recent elections and their candidates contesting the Gujarat assembly elections will meet a similar fate," she said.
She said anti-incumbency factor will not play any role in Gujarat as people are satisfied with the work done by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Criticising ad campaign launched by the Congress, she said the advertisement talks about water, power and road which has already been provided during Modi's rule.
Swaraj said her party has not softened its sand on Indo-US nuclear deal and if it came to power in the Centre, it would cancel the deal as it was against interests of the sovereign country. On using services of Modi at the national level, she said party wants Modi to remain in Gujarat for completing the task assigned to him.
Swaraj also claimed that party rebels including Keshubhai Patel, Suresh Mehta and others will not have any impact on BJP's fortune in the elections. In the past also several rebels worked against the party in the polls but could not succeed in their design, she said. BJP vice president Gopinath Munde was present on the occasion.
