Puri: Mounting a scathing attack on BJP and Congress, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today accused both the parties of "ruining the country" and claimed that a third progressive alliance would storm to power at the Centre after the next general elections.
"BJP and Congress have not only ruined the country by neglecting farmers, poor and overall development process but also internal security, causing a spurt in terrorist strikes," he said at a public meeting here.
Claiming that terrorism was effectively under check when he was the Defence Minister, Yadav said terrorist attacks were now taking place too frequently, even in areas untouched by the menace a few years ago.
The country's borders do not appear to be safe and secure at present, he said adding efforts should be made to create a bond between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in order to ensure lasting peace and progress in the region.
Stating that people felt "cheated" by BJP and Congress, Yadav claimed the third progressive alliance, including his party, had 56 MPs in the Lok Sabha now and would capture power at the Centre after the next polls. He also blamed the UPA Government for rising unemployment.
