Police hurt in encounter, LeT ultra held

Srinagar: A policeman was today injured in an ongoing encounter with militants in Pulwama district while a Lashker-e-Taiba ultra was arrested in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

The policeman was injured when militants opened fire on a joint search party of police and CRPF at Ladhermud village in Tral in Pulwama, a police spokesman said.
He said the militants were hiding in a house and efforts are on to neutralise them.

LeT local-trained militant Ghulam Hassan Mir was arrested from his house at Wuder Bala in Kupwara district, Handwara Superintendent of Police Haseeb Mughal said.
He said Mir was also vcarrying a mobile set, three pherans (loose gowns), five litres of oil, several candles and match boxes to be transported to militants operating in the Handwara belt.

The arrested man was the main supplies provider of militants active in the area, the SP said.
