Cong understates Karat's remarks on N-deal
Sunday, December 09, 2007 14:32 [IST]
New Delhi: Congress today downplayed the CPI-M's blunt talk that the government should stop the negotiations with the IAEA on the Indo-US nuclear deal immediately.

"Whatever is being negotiated is as per the understanding reached in the coordination committee meetings of the Left and the UPA and after full engagement with the Left," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.

He was responding to the remarks of CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat threatening mid-term polls to Lok Sabha if the government goes ahead with negotiations with International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA) beyond December.
