Cops probe assault on Indian HC employee
Sunday, December 09, 2007 19:13 [IST]

London: British police is investigating a complaint that two British nationals, seeking visa, had assaulted a security officer of the Indian High Commission.

The two visited the India House on Thursday after the Visa Hours and tried to get into the main building. When they were prevented, a British woman, who was believed to be high on drugs, allegedly hit a Indian security officer with her umbrella while her companion pushed him, High Commission officials said here today.

A senior official at the India House told PTI today that the High Commission had issued a record number of 62,000 visas in November this year as against 50,000 during the corresponding month last year.
