Ghaziabad: Senior lawyer Sagir Khan, who was the defence advocate of Frontier Mail serial bomb blast case accused Shakil, has now refused to defend him in court.
"After the recent serial bomb blast in three cities of Uttar Pradesh (Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow), I could not morally justify defending terrorists and finally decided to withdraw from the case," Sagir Khan told PTI.
Khan withdrew his vakalatnama from the court two days back when the accused was produced before the court.
Shakil of Pilakhua here is an accused in the case of serial bomb blast in Frontier Mail train at Sahibabad and Ghaziabad railway station in on October 1, 1997. The blast had left three persons dead and many injured.
Along with him, Aamir of Delhi and Abdul Karim alias Tunda, who was residing in Ashok Nagar in Pilakhua here, are also accused in the case.
This is the third case where advocates have refused to defend the accused following the recent blasts in the court premises in the three cities the UP.
Advocates of Wali Ullah, accused in the Varanasi blast and Abdul Mateen, accused in the Modinagar blast have already withdrawn from the cases last month.
