Bhubaneswar: The Task Force (TF) on naxalites today stressed the need for imparting quality training to the security personnel and more synergy between the Centre and States in order to achieve the goal, official sources said. The Union Home Ministry s TF on naxalisim which held its brain storming meeting ahead of the Chief Ministers conference on internal security convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on December 20,took stock of the challenges posed by the red radicals across the country.
Top intelligence officers from nine Maoist affected states like Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatishgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh exchanged their views on the present situation and suggested modalities on how to combat the menace, sources said.
While putting forth their problems, most of the states stressed on the training the personnel engaged in the Maoist affected districts so that the casualty could be brought down drastically, they said.
Union Home ministry s special secretary (internal security) M L Kumawat who chaired the meeting told reporters that barring Chhatishgarh, the Maoist related violence as well as casualty rate had come down in all states.
