Shimla: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's security was allegedly breached at a helipad in Himachal Pradesh today.
According to the media reports, a helicopter carrying Congress leader R K Dhawan breached PM's security. The helicopter carrying Dhawan allegedly landed when PM's helicopter was in vicinity, media sources said.
Security agencies confirmed that Bilaspur Air Traffic Controller has been held responsible for the security breach. The two pilots identified are Col Sehgal and K Mehta, both are former Army pilots and now working with Deccan airlines. Both are held and later released on bail.
Airport authorities confirmed that the state governmet had passed Dhawan's flight plan.
The Addl SP said the two crew have been charged under the provisions of the air traffic control rules and under Section 336 of IPC dealing with acts endangering life and personal safety.
However, Civil Aviation Ministry sources said, there was no threat to PM's safety. It was a security breach which is being probed, ministry sources added.
