Bhubaneswar: Annoyed at ISKCON s holding Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at different times across the globe, Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) of Puri is contemplating legal action.
"We are very serious about the matter. The SJTA may move he court if the authorities of ISKCON continue to dilute the Jagannath cult", said SJTA Chief Administrator Suresh Mohapatra criticising ISKCON's act of organising the Rath Yatra at odd times.
Sri Jagannath s Rath Yatra was an annual event which was being held in the month of Asadha according to Hindu almanac in tune with the tradition and religious practice. The SJTA's statement came three days after the priests of the 12th century shrine held a demsonstration opposing ISKCON s activities.
Mohapatra pointed out that while the Puri temple had been trying to set a common code of conduct by adopting similar rituals in all Jagannath temples in the country, ISKCON s act was a "big hurdle". "We will ask ISKCON authorities to rectify the mistake. Otherwise, the SJTA will be forced to take legal action," Mohapatra said.
