Dharmendra pleads compensation for Raj farmers
Friday, December 21, 2007 14:34 [IST]

Jaipur: Bollywood actor turned politician Dharmendra has asked the Centre to pay compensation to Rajasthan farmers residing near Indo-Pak border areas for they were not being allowed to cultivate their land by the army.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, he said "the Rajasthan farmers whose lands were near the border should be paid adequate compensation as had been given in the case of Punjab and Gujarat."

He has also drawn the attention of the prime minister to a letter written by the state government in this regard on which no decision has been taken.
