'India worried about Pakistan situation'
Saturday, December 29, 2007 14:29 [IST]

Thiruvananthapuram: The assassination of Benazir Bhutto and developments in Pakistan are a matter of serious concern to India and "proved" correct Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's observations that both countries faced common threat of terrorism, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan said.

"We have always been worried about security situation in Pakistan, as our Prime Minister had said at one stage for which he was criticised", he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here today.

"Prime Minister is proving to be true. Both countries faced common threat of terrorism", Narayanan said while answering questions on the turmoil in Pakistan after the assassination of the former Pakistan Prime Minister.

About the assassination of Bhutto, he said for India and the world at large, "a person hoping to restore democracy in Pakistan is no more."
