2 militants killed, one arrested in J&K

Srinagar: Two militants were among three persons killed and an ultra of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was arrested today in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

The two militants were killed in an encounter with police during a search operation at village Drubgam in Pulwama district, the spokesman said. One of the slain militants has been identified as Abdul Gani Dar of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.

The house in which the militants were hiding was damaged in the exchange of fire, he said.

In a separate incident, he said police arrested militant Bashir Ahmad Laway, during checking at Kadlabal-Nambal near Awantipora, 30 km from here in Pulwama district. A chinese pistol and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.

In another incident, the spokesman said militants intruded into the house of one Mohammad Shabir (40) and shot him dead. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
