Kota: Railways has included a proposal, for setting up of a direct rail connectivity between the Kota and Ajmer cities, in the coming budget, a top official said here today.
"The divisional office has already sent the proposal to the railway board and there is a good chance that it will be accepted," said Maheep Kapur, General Manager of West Central Railway.
There was also move to extend the Kota-Shamgarh passenger train upto Ratlam besides introducing more coaches in trains running in the division including the Ratlam-Mathura passenger train, Kapoor, who arrived here for an annual inspection tour, said.
An electric engine would be put into service in the Kota-Bhairon sector by January 15 when the electrification work on the route would be completed. The second stage of electrification work of the Kota-Bina track has also commenced, he said.
Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) would form a separate bomb demolition squad and necessary training was being provided to a section of the force, Deputy Inspector General R P Sharma, who accompanied Kapoor, said. A school for training of RPF personnel was being established in Itarsi, Sharma said adding that the force would enhance its co-ordination with police intelligence department.
