Sunday, January 06, 2008 14:26 [IST]

Nasik: The chances of Utter Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP chief Mayawati s magic working in Maharashtra are very less, said Republic Party of India President and MP Ramdas Athawale.

Speaking at a rally to mark golden jubilee of RPI, formed by late Dr Ambedkar, here yesterday, Athawale said that RPI has already succeeded in reaching all villages and hence BSP s "elephant will not be able to run in the state."

Maharashtra PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who is president of Mahatma Phule Samata Parishad, Jharkhand Revenue Minister Dulal Bhuyya, Maharashtra Minister Preetamkumar Shegaonkar, local RPI leaders were present on the occasion.

Declaring open RPI s golden jubille drive Athawale announced that our drive is to unite dalit-savarna (other castes) in the state. Meanwhile, Ramdas Athawale and others participated in the state-wide Samata Sandesh march, which started from Nasik this morning, and will culminate in Mumbai on February 17.
