Hoshiarpur: Punjab government will spent Rs.142 crore for starting three model and one Adarsh school in each segment of state assembly during current financial year, so that students of rural areas can get education facilities according to the standard of public schools, Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal said today.
Addressing the valedictory function of three-day health fair organised by MP from Hoshiarpur Parliamentary Constituency Avinash Rai Khanna in collaboration with the district administration under the National Health Mission Programme at Garhshankar, 40 Km from here, the Chief Minister said that arrangements had been made for providing free education to the brilliant students of the poorsection in the model and Adarsh schools.
Referring to thes hortage of teaching staff in government schools, he said that necessary proceedings had been initiated for the recruitment of 14000 teachers to fill all vacant posts in senior and secondary schools in state. Appreciating Avinash Rai Khanna and the district administration for holding health fair, Badal emphasised the need for organising such health fairs in other parts of the state for providing health services to the people of far flung areas.
The Chief Minister strongly condemned the involvement of youths in intoxication and female foeticides. "There is a dire need to check the menace of female foeticide and to aware the people about its ill effects", he said.
