Obama overtakes Clinton in New Hampshire: poll
Sunday, January 06, 2008 20:52 [IST]

Manchester: Barack Obama has overtaken Hillary Clinton ahead of the New Hampshire primary election to be held in Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, trails in third place in the poll, and appears to get no bounce from his win in Iowa on the Republican side.

The survey suggests a major shift of sentiment among voters in New Hampshire where Clinton, the US senator from New York and former first lady, has led Obama for months.

Obama, a senator representing Illinois, appears to have benefited from his victory in Iowa last week, although pundits note that the poll results falls well within the plus-or-minus five per cent margin of error.

The poll, of 400 Democrat and 400 Republican likely voters in New Hampshire, was carried out between January 2 and 4.
