Mulayam, Naidu meet Karat
Monday, January 07, 2008 12:04 [IST]

New Delhi: Ahead of their meeting to discuss the present political scenario, top leaders of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) today met CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat here.

UNPA Chairman and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, his party colleague Amar Singh and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu met Karat at the CPI(M) headquarters here and discussed the political scenario.

However, details of their discussion was not known. The UNPA top brass is meeting here at a time when one of their estranged constituents, AIADMK, is cosying up with BJP.

The Left parties have earlier made it clear that no Third Alternative can be formed only for electoral purposes and without launching joint struggle on common issues.

The meeting of the UNPA is likely to give finishing touches to the series of rallies announced by it across the country on its pro-farmer agenda.
