While the police identified the youth as Sagar Kadam, a resident of Motilal Nagar, Goregaon (West). The girl is a resident of Kumbharwada in Girgaum.

According to the police, Kadam met the girl at the wedding of a common friend on December 5 last year. They began talking regularly on the phone. Soon thereafter they fell in love and decided to marry.

On December 11, the girl left her maternal home and eloped with Kadam. They got married and went off to Palghar. Meanwhile, the girl’s parents complained to the police that she was missing.
