New Delhi: In the wake of severe criticism from various quarters on the photo-identity card issue, ruling Congress today met Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna requesting him to immediately "withdraw" the order.
A delegation led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President J P Aggarwal met Khanna and expressed their displeasure over the move which they said was "impracticable and will lead to chaos in the city."
"We do not agree with this order as it is completely impracticable. It will result in unnecessary harassment of the genuine people in the capital where over 1.60 crore are making their living," Aggarwal told PTI here after the meeting.
Khanna's announcement has drawn flak from citizens as well as the political parties, including Congress and BJP, in the Capital, which will go for assembly elections at the end of this year.
The DPCC president said the announcement has left the people in jitters as most of them had migrated to the capital to make their livings and they can t be seen as suspected elements.
