Chandigarh: Protesting the gruesome murders in the KMV college campus in Jalandhar, non-government colleges in Punjab today observed a statewide education bandh and demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the incident.
Principals Association of non-government affiliated Colleges and the Punjab and Chandigarh Colleges Teachers Union (PCCTU) had jointly called for today's education bandh to register their protest against the quadruple murders. The teaching fraternity has demanded the immediate arrest of murderers along with the restoration of campus security that had received a serious blow following the incident.
PCCTU President Prof SS Hundal, General Secretary Kuldeep Singh and local GN College Unit President Prof Jaswant Singh Gandam expressed their complete solidarity and support with the bereaved fraternity of KMV Jalandhar.
Scanty attendance was recorded in the colleges today, and many of them who made it to the college unmindful of the bandh, were seen returning.
