New Delhi: Canadian Foreign Minister Maxime Bernier will undertake a two-day visit to India from January 11 during which he will discuss regional issues like the situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During his meeting with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and other Indian leaders, Bernier will also discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, a press release issued by the Canadian Foreign Affairs Media Relations Office said today.
Bernier, who embarks on a nearly week-long visit to the Middle East and Asia on January nine, will also visit Saudi Arabia, the West Bank and Israel.
"I am looking forward to my fist visit to the Middle East and to this opportunity to discuss regional issues of mutual concern," he said in a statement. Bernier said his message for the region was clear, supporting efforts that will lead to a peaceful and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Durig his stay in Riyadh, he will meet King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal.
He will visit West Bank on January 13 and Israel on the following day, during which he will discuss Canadian and Israeli foreign policy concerns in the Middle East, the release added.
