Answering queries of journalists yesterday in this regard Pakistan Interior Ministry spokesman Brig (Retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema termed such reports as baseless.

"This is totally false and we have not made any arrests in this matter and no culprit has so far been identified," the Interior Ministry Spokesperson was quoted as saying to Geo TV.

He further said that the investigation into the tragic event on December 27 outside Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi is progressing and the team from the Scotland Yard is assisting the probe, they are meeting doctors and other concerned officials for any additional help in the matter and are progressing with no hindrance.

Certain media reports yesterday quoting official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) had claimed that Benazir's assassin has been identified and raids at Swabi district of NWFP.
