Two women accuse PUSU chief of sexual harassment
Wednesday, January 09, 2008 19:00 [IST]

Chandigarh: Two women have accused Punjab University Students Union president Tej Pal Singh Cheema of sexually harassment and one of them claimed she was forced to get an abortion done.

The other woman alleged she was severely beaten up by Cheema last night and showed her bruises to the media here today.

Police said they have received complaints from the two women, one of whom alleged she was "forcibly aborted", and they were medically examined at a local hospital.

They said as case would be registered after complaints were investigated, while Cheema refuted the allegations and claimed it was a "ploy to damage my image".

Cheema, who is president of PUSU, had not contested last year's university elections but fielded others of his party who swept the polls.
