Kathmandu: India has provided Rs 14.11 million in grants for the modernisation programme of two schools in western Nepal.

This was announced by Indian Embassy's Counselor Gopal Wagley, who laid foundation stones for the new buildings of Shri Shanti Secondary and Shri Janajyoti Higher Secondary Schools in Arghakhachi district today.

Both the schools, in which over 1350 students are studying, were established in the early 1960s and are being modernized with the grant assistance from the government of India, he said.

These projects are part of more than 265 large and small projects currently being implemented under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme in various sectors with an outlay of over Rs 21.5 billion.
