Washington State Senate to open with Hindu shlokas

Washington: The Washington State Senate will open its upcoming session on February 22 with a recitation of Sanskrit hymns from the ancient Hindu scriptures Rigveda and Bhagvad Gita. Prominent Hindu chaplain Rajan Zed will recite the hymns from the Rigveda, which dates back to 1500 BC, and lines from Upanishads and Bhagvad Gita.

This is reported to be the first Hindu prayer ever delivered in Washington State Senate in the 154 years of its history. Washington State Senate is presided by Lieutenant Governor and composed of 49 members. Known as Evergreen State , Washington is home to the likes of Microsoft, Boeing, Bill Gates.
