Lucknow turns blue on Mayawati's birthday

mayawati_400_01Lucknow: City of Nawabs has turned blue , the official colour of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), on the occasion of the 52nd birthday of Utar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

The BSP supremo, who will celebrate her birthday tomorrow in a simple way, has asked party workers to help the needy, particulary people from the Sarva Samaj, on the day.

A symbolic cake would be cut in all the 403 assembly constituencies where BSP workers would inform people about the achievements of the Mayawati government. Cassettes and CDs of the achievements of the government would also be distributed free of cost.

A 52-kg cake would be cut in the Lucknow (east) constituency followed by a community feast. However, entire Lucknow has been decorated with each and every important place of the party including Prerna Kendra, Ambedkar Memorial, Chief Minister's residence and BSP office.

Most of the roundabouts in the state capital were lighted with colourful decorative lights. BSP's blue flag with party's symbol elephant engrossed were seen everywhere in the city.

Blue gates have been erected across the state capital. Mayawati, asking the party workers to make the occasion as simple as possible, said unlike previous occasions, this time there would be no big function. But she said the workers financial donation to strengthen the party and helping the needy would still be the main attraction of the day.

According to the programme, the four-time Chief Minister of UP, who will turn 52 on that day, will launch several developmental programmes in the state including laying of the foundation stone of the ambitious 1000 km Ganga Expressway in the state capital.

Mayawati in the evening will also release a book Mere Sangharsh Ki Kahani: BSP ka Safarnama (third edition) written by her at a function in New Delhi.
