Monday, January 14, 2008 15:21 [IST]

Hyderabad: Two police officials, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police, have been suspended on charges of accepting bribe. Action against P Ranga Rao, the ACP, and Inspector K Muthaiah was taken after an inquiry, a senior police officer said here today.

Director General of Police S S P Yadav issued the suspension order after a sting operation by a Telugu news channel caught them while accepting bribe from an accused, he said.

The duo had demanded the bribe for closing the investigation in a case filed against him under the ST/SC Atrocities (Prevention) Act, the officer said.
