Kannur: The murder of a CPI-M youth activist, allegedly by RSS-BJP workers near here on Saturday night and killing of two CPI-M Workers recently in the district was a deliberate bid to vitiate peace ahead of the three-day party district meet that begins here from January 19, party district secretary P Sasi said today.
"The fatal attack on a CPI-M worker on Saturday night and the murder of two CPI-M workers near Thalassery early November was aimed at vitiating the political atmosphere by provoking CPI-M cadres to launch counter-attacks which could mar the party's image ahead of the district committee meet," he said.
The recent killing of CPI-M men makes it clear that the BJP-RSS leadership in the district was trying to provoke CPI-M to act in retaliation, while the Congress was found to be extending support to the divisionary activities of the saffron outfits, he alleged, briefing reporters about the meet.
Several senior party leaders, including Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and party central committee members from the state would take part in the meeting here, considered a cpi-m stronghold.
