Muscat: India and Oman today signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) relating to the setting up of a plastics technology and accountants institute.
The MoUs were signed here on the last day of the two-day visit of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Indian officials told PTI that the first MoU between Oman's Emirates Investment Holding Company and the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology, Chennai, pertains to setting up of a plastics technology training and development centre in Oman.
The second MoU is between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the College of Banking and Financial Studies for setting up a Chartered Accountants Institute in Oman, said Anil Wadhwa, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate. The signing of the MOUs at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) was witnessed by Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed, Chairman of OCCI, Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji and Oman's Undersecretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ahmed Hassan Al Dheeb.
The first MOU was signed by Awadh Bamkhalef, CEO of OEIHC and Prof S K Nayak, DG of CIPET; and the second MOU was signed by President of ICAI, Sunil Talati and Chairman of CBFS, Iqbal Khamis Al Lawati.
