'Dont pass hike in intl crude prices to consumers'
Monday, January 14, 2008 21:38 [IST]

New Delhi: As the Left parties opposed any hike in fuel prices, Congress today told the government not to automatically pass the increase in international crude prices to the consumers and take particular care of the vulnerable sections.

"We hope and trust that the impact on the domestic prices will not be based on the movement of the spot prices internationally...," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.

Hoping that the government would take all steps to minimise and soften to the maximum extent possible the rise in the global oil prices, the Congress leader expected that all reasonable steps in the macro economic perspective would be taken.
