Former Pak minister on Al-Qaeda's hit list: Report

Islamabad: Al-Qaeda has put former Pakistani Federal Minister Sumera Malik on its hit list, a media report said here today. The Inspector General of Police of Punjab province has been informed about the threat to the life of Malik, the former minister for women's development who is also the niece of former President Farooq Ahmed Laghari.

After receiving a letter from the interior ministry, the IGP ordered police in Khaushab district to take measures to protect Malik, The Post newspaper quoted sources as saying. Malik was elected a member of the National Assembly in 2002 from a seat reserved for women in Khaushab. She is contesting from the same seat in the February 18 polls.
