New Delhi: BJP today formulated a dedicated group to study the effect of delimitation on its electoral prospects.
Speaking to reporters after the first meeting of the party's newly formed Central Election Management Committee, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said, "297 seats in Lok Sabha have been with the BJP atleast once since 1989. The Decision Implementation Group formed today have been assigned to look into the effects of delimitation."
The party, which in the present Lok Sabha holds 138 out of the 297 seats, has plans to take stock of the electoral effects on these seats from their sitting MPs, while the rest of the seats would be surveyed by a 30-member-team and each person having a responsibility of around five seats each.
"The group has been assigned the task to look into the reasons for losses and factors which would assure a victory for the party candidates," Swaraj added.
The party has decided to convene a meeting of its alliance partners on January 22 at L K Advani's residence to chalk out a joint strategy. "The mood of the meeting today was upbeat and steps have been initiated to convert this positive mood into a major electoral win," she said.
The committee which met today for the preparation of elections, slated to be held in several states this year, has also decided to form sub-groups for manifesto drafting, issue projection, advertisement and campaign and media management, the party informed.
