National conclave for northeast as LTC destination

New Delhi: Over 500 tour operators, trade bodies, state and central government officials will participate here tomorrow in a national conclave on promoting the North-east as an LTC destination.
Jointly organised by the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the Ministry of Tourism, the conclave is believed to be the first-of-its-kind that aims to boost tourism in the region. The conclave will be inaugurated by DoNER Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar. Besides several presentation on the destinations, an exhibition will also be held to highlight the places of tourist importance.
Sources in the DoNER ministry said the aim of the concept is to help shed the North-east shed its image as a troubled area by encouraging Central government employees to use their leave travel concession to visit the region.
