Indore: Amid controversy over proposing names of political persons for Bharat Ratna, Congress leader and MP Jyotiraditya Scindia today said there is no harm in suggesting names for the top civilian honour.
"There is no harm in it. In fact, it offers more choices," he told reporters when asked about the controversy over BJP proposing the name of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the prestigious award. "Both political and apolitical persons excelling in their respective fields and upholding the honour of the country in their areas are equally qualified to get the award."
On the demand for separate Budelkhand state, he said Congress and the Central government have thought over it. "I am of the firm opinion that as time passes, it becomes difficult to rule the big states." "However, I feel that both sides (supporters and opponents) should come forward with their suggestions on the issue. In any case, the final decision rests with the Union Government," he added.
On Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's visit to a village on a motorcycle, he said as the Assembly polls near the BJP Government has started thinking of the common man.
Referring to the issue of red wheat raised by Chouhan during a surprise inspection of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns, he said it is being distributed all over the country and also in Madhya Pradesh since last four years. But, they are raising it now with an eye on the polls due in December.
